The series The Drawn Exhibitions, begun in 1996, is constantly being added to and extended. Since all the drawings are treated "as equal" in their mode of production – using 19 pencils of various hardness for exactly 19 different gradations of gray – the series is characterized by a formal consistency that allows the viewer to better focus on the different contents of the individual sheets. Many of the drawings have actually been realized in the form of installations and sculptures; other ideas, in turn, can only function in the medium of the drawing.
